Concreting questions, answered

Everything from finishes and curing times to how our quotes work. Still not sure? Give Mick a call.

General

What areas do you service?

We are based in Emerald and service the whole Central Highlands, including Blackwater, Springsure, Clermont, Capella, Sapphire and the surrounding regional areas. If you are not sure whether we reach your town, just give us a call.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. MJU Concreting is fully licensed and insured, holding QBCC Licence No. 15007574. Mick has over 20 years in the construction industry and works as a concreting specialist, so your job is in safe, experienced hands.

Do you provide free quotes?

Absolutely. All quotes are free and no-obligation. Send through your details and a description of the job and we will come out, take a look, and give you an honest price.

Residential

What concrete finishes do you offer?

We offer plain concrete, exposed aggregate, coloured concrete and honed finishes. Plain is the most cost-effective, while exposed aggregate is a popular decorative choice for driveways, patios and pool surrounds. We are happy to talk through what suits your project and budget.

How long before I can use my new driveway or slab?

As a general rule you can walk on new concrete after about 24 hours, but you should wait around 7 days before driving a vehicle onto a new driveway or slab so it can cure and reach strength. We will give you the specifics for your job when we finish up.

Do you handle the excavation and site preparation too?

Yes. We do our own excavation, levelling and site prep, so the same team preps the ground and pours the concrete. That means no gap between trades and a slab that is set up to last.

Commercial

Can you handle large-scale commercial and industrial jobs?

Yes. We take on car parks, factory floors, large shed slabs and heavy-duty engineered flooring. We have a small core team and scale up with additional crew and equipment for bigger projects, so we can handle the size without dropping our standards.

Do you work with builders and developers?

We do. We regularly work in with builders, developers and site managers on residential and commercial projects, poured to engineer's drawings and to program. Get in touch to talk about your job.

Pricing & Process

How much does concreting cost?

Every job is different, so the price depends on the size, the finish, the site access and how much prep and excavation is involved. That is why we come out and give you a free, itemised quote rather than a rough guess over the phone. No surprises once we start.

What does the process look like from quote to completion?

It is five simple steps: a free site inspection and quote, site preparation and excavation, formwork and reinforcement, the concrete pour and finish, then a final clean-up. We keep you in the loop the whole way through, and you deal with Mick directly.
